Sea of Centuries - Romance Through a Window LP
In 2012, freshly sober, I set out with a long-time music collaborator of mine, Dan Roberts, to create a post-punk band. Our major influences at that time were Bauhaus, Sisters of Mercy, and Christian Death. When we started, it was a hodge podge of Sigur Ros meets Pinback meets Eno. The plan was I would sing clean, something I hadn't done to that point ever in my 20 years of being in bands. A year in, we added a live bass player, and then a year or so later, we added a live drummer. And things got loud very fast. So what started as a Californian deathrock band quickly morphed into a Gravity records influenced post-punk band. As always, in my life, no one knew what to do with us. We were too punk for the goth kids and too arty for the punk/hardcore purists. We pressed a record, I couldn't give them away, and we broke up. So now!!! I'm giving them away!!! If you want a copy, just pay for shipping, or it's completely free if you buy other stuff.
I don't listen to this ever. I never really listen back to my own music. But I will say my non clean vocals are great, the music I like and the clean parts should have been lower. Whatever, it was a fun 5 years, if not frustrating (as bands are). I really like the lyrics I wrote for this album they pushed me out to do more writing, which is what spawned Swampland v2
