MOTH DRAKULA + YELLOW SWANS CD

Pissed and vicious as a junkyard dog. Post-CA box, Pre-MA CD sessions. Yellow Swans fans were not expecting this when they came to The Smell for a blissful meditative evening of silk screen stained electronics. Instead the mantra of the night quickly became, as our spray painted grip tape exclaimed, "Destroy Everything".

"Moth Drakula were part of the excellent and exciting Men Who Can’t Love crew in LA. All of those guys have gone on to make more incredible music under their own names or under various monikers. Evan and Josh tho were a bit more punk than the rest and Gabe and I were really struck by their choices with playing things like amplified skate boards and whatnot. We did a collab show with them at The Smell and recorded our soundcheck and that was cobbled together here. There’s also a CDR they released that we didn’t have until recently that’s the straight Live set from The Smell. It was just HARSH and aggro.. Real catharsis. We had so much fun we invited them to jam with us opening for Xiu Xiu at the Troubadour next time we came through LA but Josh couldn’t make it. No Ex-Jesus, but Evan showed up with a folding table with a roofing shingle glued to it and a speaker with sheet metal wrapped around it so it was acting as a microphone. The glam rock temple folks didn’t know WTF to do with us.. The table lasted about 20 seconds, got thrown into the crowd and Evan just started screaming his ass off without a mic and dude was LOUD. We ripped through another 10 minutes of hell, scrambled off the stage and unloaded our PA and that was that." - Pete Swanson
